History of the Kumar Endorsement

In 2011, I was doing a good deal of reading on Gandhian Philosophy, and it came to me that a library was needed to expand not only my mind on Gandhian thinking but everyone else's in the world, if world peace was to have a chance.  As a university student project, I began the Mahatma Gandhi Global Library and  Book Exchange (MahatmaGandhiGlobalLibrary.blogspot.com).  Dr. Kumar was one of several writers I interacted with on gaining books for the library, and we have discussed him being on the board of directors, as the library develops in the years ahead.

He was an obvious choice to ask for an endorsement for Texas Governor, as time went on.  And he has been very gracious to lend his name to the cause.

Dear Dr. Kumar:

As you are the world's most prominent Gandhian intellectual, I was hoping I might place your name next to Dr. Noam Chomsky's name in endorsing me for Texas Governor.  Dr. Chomsky is "the eighth most cited source in History on the All Time List" and called by many the "Intellectual of the Age."

I am running as a Tolstoyan-Gandhian Libertarian with the intent of not "affirming" in a legal context or taking "oaths" in accordance with the "Sermon on the Mount."  I am calling for current Texas Governor Rick Perry to call a Special Session of the Texas Legislature to provide me ballot access, based on my Gandhian religion, under our 1st Amendment of the U. S. Constitution.

I plan to present you as "The World's Most Prominent Gandhian Intellectual, Former Vice Chancellor of Meerut University and Padma Shri Laureate (India's Medal of Freedom) and related to The World Peace Movement Trust."

Most respectfully,

Gene Chapman

History of the Chomsky Endorsement

In 2012, I was studying Economics at the University of North Texas, Denton, Texas.  I got a speaking gig for a Gandhian intellectual from India that coming summer, and it all worked out pretty well.  So, the door was open for me to pitch another idea.

I approached Charlie Rose about doing a PBS Special for national broadcast in a round table with Warren Buffett, Dr. Ron Paul, Dr. Noam Chomsky, Willie Nelson, etc.  The title was to be, "Is the Personal Income Tax Slavery?"

Well, Warren Buffett told me in an email that he doesn't do round tables, so he was out.

A law professor form George Washington University was happy to come.

I'd also been in contact with Dr. Chomsky, who told me he was in.

Well, as time went on, no one else responded, as is the case with most projects in life.  (Once in a while, the planets align, and you knock one out of the park -- you know how it is.)

Anyway, Dr. Chomsky and I kept on talking in emails.

One day, I finally picked up a copy of "The Kingdom Of God Is Within You," by Leo Tolstoy, that had been on my coffee table about a year, I guess, and I read it.

I emailed Dr. Chomsky about how he should run for President of the United States and I'd run for Texas Governor on the proposition from Tolstoy's book that we would then not take the oath when elected.  He turned down the idea for himself, as you can read in his email below, but he was happy to endorse me for my end of the proposal.

And that's how it happened.  We have traded many emails since on a rang of topics, and he has never once flinched at my thanks to him for how his endorsement for my run for Texas Governor has opened doors for me.

Not tongue-in-cheek.  I do hope it works out.

On my books, I’m a bad judge.  Am always surprised to look back and see what was in them.

Noam

I'll put that down as a tongue-in-cheek endorsement;-)

I hope you are doing well, and if there are any of your books you think would be a good read on ending statism, please feel free to let me know of them.

Hope things work out in Texas.  But me? Even I wouldn’t vote for me.
